Post the recipe, please! I’d love to see it.
Maybe it is a sauce for seafood (like tartar) or maybe it is a white bbq sauce that contains mayo, common in Alabama.

It’s probably meant for BBQ chicken, or chicken prepared anyway or pork, but it really goes good with chicken. Also could have been intended for Rock Cornish Hens, an old southern tradition.
Is it similar to this?
WHITE BARBECUE SAUCE
1 pt. mayonnaise
2 tbsp. pepper
2 tbsp. salt
6 tbsp. lemon juice
6 tbsp. vinegar
4 tbsp. sugar
Mix all ingredients together until smooth. Use to baste chicken, pork chops, or ribs in oven or on grill. Leftovers will keep in refrigerator several weeks.
